Library

MKCE CENTRAL LIBRARY established in the year 2000 is spread over 10,346.5 sq. ft. is a valuable resources for students and faculties of engineering, technology and management. The library has built a robust collection of over 61894 books. The Library has an Air conditioned facility and provides access to the best of digital resources through its subscription to various databases consisting of scholarly and industry relevant content.

The MKCE Library is to provide information services and access to bibliographic and full text digital and printed resources to support the scholarly and informational needs of the Institute Community. The Library has a collection of over 61000 Volumes of Reference, Textbooks, Etc. It also has amazingly good collections of Directories, Yearbooks, Biographical sources, Textbooks, Encyclopedias, Dictionaries, Handbooks, General Books, competitive exam books, and including Tamil novels.

The library has also subscribed for 94 National Journals and 113 International Journals and 50 Magazines and full text online databases like IEEE, Springer, Elsevier-Science Direct and Sage (Management).

We are also an institution member of NPTEL (National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning) who provides facility to access video lectures of IIT and IISc Bangalore and Membership of DELNET (Inter library loan) for resource sharing. We are also now an Institutional member of National Digital Library coordinated by IIT Kharagpur funded by MHRD & NMEICT which gives access to different types of learning material for primary to PG Students spread over different Subjects. Digital library with 24 systems with apt peripherals to access the E-Journals, E-books, CD/DVD’s are available in library.

All in-house operations in the library are fully computerized using Library Software IMPRES ERP powered by Dolphin Software Solutions under surveillance through RFID Security E-Gate and CCTV digital cameras. It also provides web-based access to the online catalogue of our Library Resources. There is 24*7 access to return the books. The issue of books is also automated with KIOSK Self Issue Systems enabling the User themselves charging their books into their account.

Our Library also strives to provide uncompromising information and intellectual requirements to its students and faculty with a user-friendly approach. It offers a fully integrated and dynamic environment for conducting academic study. Multiple copies ensure that resources are easily available in Reference Section and Stock Section as well. Beside this, it provides Lending of books and journals back volumes, photocopying, CD/DVD and Internet services, etc.

Library Rules & Regulations

General Rules

  • Identity Card is compulsory for getting access to the library.
  • Silence to be maintained.
  • No discussion permitted inside the library.
  • Registration should be done to become a library member prior to using the library resources.
  • No personal belongings allowed inside the library.
  • Textbooks, printed materials and issued books are not allowed to be taken inside the library.
  • Using Mobile phones and audio instruments with or without speaker or headphone is strictly prohibited in the library premises.
  • Students and staff must scan their bar coded roll numbers in the ID to the E-Gate register whenever entry and exit compulsorily.
  • Show the books and other materials which are being taken out of the library to the staff at the entrance counter.
  • The librarian may recall any book from any member at any time and the member shall return the same immediately.
  • Refreshment of any kind shall not be taken anywhere in the library premises.

Admission to Library

  • Students are allowed to library only on WEARING of their authorized/valid Identity Cards

Circulation Issue System

  • Books will be issued on presentation of their ID card along with the Books card signed with their Roll Numbers.
  • Students are instructed to check the books while borrowing and they will be responsible for any type of damage or mutilation noticed at the time of return.
  • Multiple copies of same author, title will not be issued against one ID Card.

Overdue Charges

  • Materials borrowed should be returned on or before the due date stamped, if returned late overdue fine of RUPEE ONE/DAY will be charged for the delayed period.

Book Lost

  • If the books are lost, then the borrower shall replace the books of the same edition or latest edition or pay double cost of the book after getting permission from the librarian.

No due Certificate

  • Each student shall obtain No dues certificate upon closing their Library account by returning all the books issued, paying outstanding dues, if any.

Care of Library Books

  • Students are require to handle the books/ Journal very carefully; marking with pencil , writing or highlighting ,tearing the pages or mutilating the same in any other way will be viewed very seriously. In such case reader shall be held responsible unless these are brought to the notice of the library staff at the time of issue.

Reference section

  • This section has Encyclopedia, dictionaries, Textbooks Reference books etc. which are only available for reference. User can make use of these resources.

Journal Section

  • In these section journals, general magazines and news letter are available. They are arranged department wise. The latest issues are displayed on display rack and other previous issues are arranged in the drawer. Bound volumes of periodicals are arranged in rack department wise and are meant only for reference within the library.
Note: The above rules are intended to regulate the use of Library resources and will be reviewed periodically to meet the Changing needs and it will be notified on the Library Notice Board as and when required.

E-Access

Developing Library Network (DELNET)/Inter Library Loan

Which is a network of 1000 institutions and access is being given to more than 60 lakh records through online systems. Delnet has been actively engaged with the compilation of various union catalogues of the resources available in member libraries. It has already created the union catalogue of books, union list of current periodicals, CD ROM database. DELNET provides an array of facilities including E mail to its member libraries including both institutional and associate institutional members. To facilitate efficient and effective searching of information through the various online database and union catalogue, the MKCE Library has taken membership of DELNET, New Delhi. The DELNET provides the delivery of individual books as and when required by member libraries and photocopies of articles published in India and abroad through the Inter Library Loan/Document Delivery Services.

Remote Access

About INFLIBNET Access Management Federation (INFED)-

MKCE Central Library subscribes to plenty of e-resources for the benefit of its user’s community. It fulfills the information needs of the user’s as well as provides e-information to the faculty members and students. MKCE Central Library has joined INFLIBNET Access Management Federation (INFED). It is a project of INFLIBNET sponsored by MHRD, GoI. It provides Remote Access to subscribed e-resources for the user community. INFLIBNET is an Inter-University Centre of University Grants Commission, New Delhi. INFLIBNET has its head office at Gandhinagar, Gujrat.
INFED Remote Access Facility launched in the year 2022. Mrs. Lakshmi S – Librarian, Mr. Sakthivel R – Asst Librarian and Mr. Senthil Kumar S – ITKM Head are taking efforts to run this service smoothly for the users.

Book Drop Box

We are glad to inform you that as a part of library automation we have installed the drop box facility for the Library users which will help them to return their books 24/7/365days.

Instructions to use the Book Drop Box Facility

  • Book Drop box can be accessed 24/7 for students to return the books. This can be utilized even when the Library is closed.
  • Students can drop the boos from outside the library and it gets collected and stored in the Book Bin.
  • On dropping the books a receipt will be generated with your roll no. and Books Details. Please collect the receipt and keep it safely.
  • Gently drop your return books one after another.
  • The book drop box will be cleared at 11:00 am on the next working day.
  • Tampering of Book Drop box machine will attract a Penalty up to Rs. 1000/-
  • All returned books are subject to Library checking. Readers are responsible for any loss/damage/marking/underlining/highlighting or sticky notes of all kinds, mutilating or tearing pages etc.
  • Large sized books that do not fit in to the drop box should be returned at the Library circulation counter during Library hours. Please do not keep them outside the drop box.
