Audio Visual Library Services

Reference Section

Generally, this section houses different types of reference sources such as Encyclopedias, Dictionaries, Thesaurus, Handbooks, Manuals, Data Books and Tables, Question Papers, UG and PG Projects, Yearbooks etc. Moreover, the collection ranges from general to specific subjects. Users are welcome to make use of these resources, intended solely for reference purposes.

Journal Section

Accordingly, in this dedicated section, you’ll find a collection of journals, general magazines, and newsletters, thoughtfully arranged department wise. Further, the latest issues are prominently displayed on the rack, while earlier editions are neatly organized in drawers. Additionally, bound volumes of periodicals are systematically placed on department-specific racks, ensuring they are exclusively available for reference within the library.

Developing Library Network (DELNET)/Inter Library Loan

  • In the first place, DELNET is a network comprising 1000 institutions with access to over 60 lakh records through online systems.
  • Secondly, actively involved in compiling union catalogues, DELNET has created catalogues for books, current periodicals, and CD-ROM databases.
  • Member libraries, including MKCE Library, benefit from DELNET facilities, including email services while also facilitating efficient searching through various online databases and union catalogues.
  • DELNET offers services such as delivering individual books and providing photocopies of articles through Inter Library Loan/Document Delivery Services.

NPTEL

  • In brief, NPTEL, or the National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning, is a collaborative effort involving 7 IITs and IISc Bangalore.
  • Further, the initiative focuses on e-learning through online web and video courses, aligning with AICTE syllabi in Engineering, Sciences, Technology, Management, and Humanities.
  • MKCE’s Digital Library supports student competitiveness and houses a digital storage server.
  • E-learning materials, specifically NPTEL video lectures by esteemed professors, are available on the server.

NDL

  • NDL, the National Digital Library, is sponsored by MHRD and coordinated by IIT Kharagpur.
