About Us

M Kumarasamy College of Engineering (MKCE) proudly launches an innovative B.Tech - Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (AI & DS) Programme in association with International Business Machines (IBM) during the academic year 2020 - 21. Due to the exploration of the Internet, AI and DS deliver data-driven solutions using computational principles, methods, and systems for extracting information from data and modern computational systems that reveal capabilities of insight, way of thinking, learning and action that are typical of human intelligence. This course has been introduced to the students with the vision to provide them with holistic knowledge and applications in the field of AI and DS.

The basic objectives of this course are to train the students to acquire the skills to perform intelligent data analysis which is a key component in numerous real-world applications. With the tremendous amount of data generated every day and the computing power available, Data Science plays a seminal role in helping every business organization in identifying business trends and changes through advanced Big Data Analytics. Interpretation and prediction of business results and the future are no longer rocket science with a variety of techniques and tools such as statistical analysis, data aggregation, and data mining.

Program Educational Objectives(PEO)

Programme Educational Objectives (PEOs):
PEO1: To introduce the fundamentals of science and engineering concepts essential for a data architect / data scientist.
PEO2: To hone personality skills, trigger social commitment and inculcate societal responsibilities.
PEO3: To impart knowledge to analyze, design, test and implement the model required for various applications.

Program Outcomes(PO)

PO1: Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
PO2: Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
PO3: Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
PO4: Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
PO5: Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
PO6: The engineer and society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.

Programme Specific Outcomes (PSOs): PSO1: Understand, analyze and develop essential proficiency in the areas related to data science and artificial intelligence in terms of underlying statistical and computational principles and apply the knowledge to solve practical problems.
PSO2: Ability to implement Artificial Intelligence and data science techniques such as search algorithms, neural networks, machine learning and data analytics for solving a problem and designing novel algorithms for successful career and entrepreneurship.
